Foundation St Albans Home extension: we had a small delay in digging the foundation. 3rd party wall agreement hasn't been signed since we set up the Site. We had 1-day delay but the client and the neighbor sorted the problem. 1-day delay for us, was not a good start, but we knew that we will recover the time lost. And yes. We were able to dig and pour the foundation the same day and we were back in Schedule – after the building inspector gave us the green ligh.
St. Albans Back extensions foundation – 3 days (including site set up).
Walls to DPC – after 1 day of drying out the concrete we were able to start walls to DPC. We have used Concrete blocks (inner leaf) and Engineering Bricks (outer skin). The Wall Starter kit was installed and we had a second visit from the Building inspector and we were ready to go for Brickwork.
Brickwork St. Albans Home extension – the client was giving us the brand and color of the bricks when we signed the contract and had all materials on-site we completed the brickwork within 6 days (bad weather).
Structural work and steel Beams – we had a standard goal post steel structure with 2 pad foundations 600x600x1000 and this was installed within 5 working days. Having a Super Genie Lift was making our life easier.
Roof – the structure was quite simple with 2 Velux windows. For this Home extension in St Albans, we found the exact match for the client's roof tiles in Marley Concrete Double Roman Tile.
Roof completion – 4 working days
1st fix electric – as standard for us, we have gone through all electrical points with the client. Also, we had a meeting with the Schmid Kitchens surveyor to give us advice on all electrical points needed for Schmid for an easy kitchen installation.
Concrete slab – standard concrete slab was poured on top of 120mm hardcore and 50mm blinding sand (well compacted) and DPM.
Concrete slab completion: 2 working days
Screed St. Albans Home extension– we have used a standard semi-dry screed mix and for a professional finish, we have used a Walk-Behind power Trowel (concrete trowel/float).
Plastering – we have allocated for, insulation, boarding walls, and plastering the home extension in St Albans 7 working days.
2nd fix electric – electrical work has been completed within 2 working days. The client has decided to go for standard MK white sockets, switches, and downlights.
Painting and decorating – the client has decided to go for an Off white Dulux Colour for the walls. The ceiling was painted in Brilliant white from Dulux. We were using a Wagner Paint Sprayer for a Professional finish.
Electrical Underfloor Heating St Albans – to offer more heat to the extension we have installed Electrical Underfloor Heating in the walking areas.
Tiling Home extension St Albans – Tiles were quite big 800x800 in a light cream color. The supplier was CTD tiles.
The Rear Extension in St Albans for Michael (our client) has been completed in 12 weeks. It was a lot of extra work like landscaping and gardening required by the client.
